Who Is Bobo?

Bobo is, as you might have guessed, the inspiration for The Bobo Fund. Bobo and his brother were rescued from a shelter in Kentucky after their owner passed away in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, Bobo weighed almost 30 pounds! When Bobo started to lose weight, he was diagnosed with Cushing’s disease, and shortly after, hypothyroidism. The rescue that pulled Bobo determined that he would be a "forever foster" due to his ongoing medical needs. This means they would pay for his medication and veterinary care for the rest of his life! I only had Bobo for four years, but during this time, I moved halfway across the country, there were times I didn't have a job, and I don't know how I would have been able to afford his medication without the rescue's aid. I knew there were so many other pet owners out there who were struggling to pay for their pet's medication in the same kinds of situations, and I also knew from working many years in the veterinary industry that most financial assistance options specifically excluded chronic illnesses and medication from their programs. In memory of Bobo's passing in June of 2024, I created The Bobo Fund to help other pet owners pay for their pet's prescription medication and prescription food with the goal of keeping pets with their families, and maintaining everyone's quality of life, even just a little bit.

At The Bobo Fund, we understand the financial and emotional challenges of caring for pets with chronic illnesses. We are dedicated to providing support and assistance to pet owners with chronic medical needs during difficult times. Thank you for your support and for helping honor Bobo, my best friend.
